Motel 6 Chicago Northwest - Palatine at 1450 East Dundee Road, Palatine, Illinois.

I booked this room for a quick over night stay after a concert. I never made it to the concert because the first room they put my partner and I in was the coldest room I have ever stepped foot in. It was one of the coldest days in December but the room they put us in was just as cold as outside. Before booking I made sure to look at all room options available as to not be put in a crappy room. Just needed a WARM place to sleep. After about 45 minutes sitting in the room with the heat ON we were still wearing our winter coats and boots because we were freezing still. There was no way that room was going to warm up for us to sleep there so we went to the front desk. The lady at the front desk was not friendly or willing to work with us. We checked in at 6:15 pm, its not like it was the middle of the night and we were asking for a better room. We only wanted a warm room where the walls, desk, and bed weren't as cold as ice. A very nice older gentlemen came and checked out our heater and told us it was working fine but if we wanted a different room he would let the lady at the front desk know we should be switched, but to give it 10 more minutes. We waited. Still freezing but the heat was working better, still not at a rate that would have made us not freeze while we were sleeping. We got a new room, but I was upcharged $10. I did not find out that I was charged extra until the next day. They gave me a receipt for the first charge, there was no mention of an upcharge with a room switch, and the only reason I found out about it was by looking at my checking account the next morning. There is no reason I should have been charged extra for a room when I looked online to see the rates of each room and there was only 1 option for a 1 bed non-smoking room. The second room was by far way warmer and nicer, but be it there were no options for this "nicer" room there should be no reason I was charged more to stay in it.
